Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the country's largest emirate with over 1.6 million residents. Abu Dhabi Economy

US$918 billion has been allocated to infrastructure, real estate, petrochemicals, oil and gas, electricity and water and other projects throughout the UAE, according to a report by the International Monetary Fund. The report puts the total Gulf Cooperation Council medium-term project investment in these sectors at US$2,193 billion and the outlook for the region remains positive in today's turbulent market.

US$24 billion is to be invested in Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Port and Khalifa Industrial City projects. The first phase will focus on Khalifa Port. Expected to be complete in 2010, US$5.1 billion has already been spent in constructing the port.
