IAN C. GIDDINGS

After spending 14 years at sea as a deck officer and eventually gaining his Master Mariner’s certificate Ian came ashore to work as a lecturer in marine operations at Aberdeen College. Here he was involved in both traditional maritime and marine offshore courses including DP. During his time at the college he gained both a teaching qualification and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He then moved onto the Nautical Institute as Education and Training Manager before moving to International Marine Contractors Association as a Technical Adviser last year. During his career he has also served brief periods as a DPO and as a marine consultant. He is a Fellow of the Nautical Institute and a member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.
