JAMES MACHARDY

After fifteen years at sea mainly in tankers Capt. MacHardy had a career change to shore based ship management which involved various posts in ports world wide. He has experience in offshore vessels of all types, gained while an operations manager in Aberdeen and London.
On retiring after nearly 40 years with BP Shipping he took up the role of Chief Executive of SIGTTO the London based trade organisation linking shipping companies and terminal operators in the liquefied gas industry.
His main interest now is the promotion of the marine industry as a career for young people and the continuance of the excellent safety record of that industry.
