Born and raised on a barge from a family of barge owners in the Netherlands. Studied and gained dual licenses as an engineer and nautical officer.
Sailed on tankers in dual ranks for an oil major and later on was appointed as quality and safety officer. Was heavily involved in the start up and the implementation of ISM and ISO 9000 in this tanker company.
Performed several functions on board as well at the office such as vetting inspector and auditing on chartered vessels.
Joined Lloyd's Register in 2000 as a dedicated auditor for all Marine and Managements Systems.
From 2006 is responsible for all MMS related work and coordination in the Middle East.
